Have no fear for Winter is near…

Just an inside scoop that WINTER BREAK at JKC will be in effect this year with much enthusiasm, energy and excitement!  We are still in the planning phase but we are definitely geared up for a week of awesomess!  Please stay tuned for more information and feel free to talk to your child’s Program Coordinator for updates. 

Current Member registration begins Monday, November 28th and ends Friday, December 9th.  Be sure to take advantage of this head start as registration will be open to the public on Monday, December 12th!  Prices and schedule are to be announced so look at your JKC parent boards, talk to your JKC Coordinators and read your JKC emails for updates.

Winter Break will be rolling in the snow from Monday, December 19th to Friday, December 23rd (7:30am-6:00pm) at our Bayview location only.  This is the time to get planning!

Howl Time!

Be sure to experience the annual Halloween Howl at Bayview Community School on Friday, October 28th from 6:30pm-8:30pm!  Marvel in the night’s magic and enchantment! Play a trick on or give a treat to your dearest witch, warlock, ghost or ghoul.  Toss a few potions into the witch’s brew, golf with goblins, bowl for pumpkins, create some spooky crafts and much, much more!  This will be a night to remember!  Dare to enter the haunted house…

Generation Squeeze

There is a silent generational crisis occurring in the homes of Canadians…Generation Squeeze.  Double-income families in the present have the same household income as those from the mid-1970s yet they have double the costs of living.  Not only are today’s families struggling financially but they are also spread thin for time.  In addition to employers, elderly family members and children are demanding of a young couple’s or single parent’s free time.  Paul Kershaw, a scholar for the Human Early Learning Partnership, proposes a $22-billion investment on Canada’s standard of living in his full page article, ”We need a Canada that works for all generations,” in Monday, April 5th, 2011′s Vancouver Sun.  Read it now and get in the know for our upcoming federal election!

Jericho Kids Club! Read All About It!

Have you heard the word?!  Jericho Kids Club is considered to be a low priority for inspection among Metro Vancouver daycares.  The Vancouver Sun has initiated a Daycare Series to share information about Vancouver’s daycares with local parents and families.  The Series entails a semi-daily profile of a recently inspected daycare in the region – positive or negative.  These written features will blow your minds!  Check out the links below for more info and even take a second or two to search Jericho Kids Club to see our report yourselves!

Spring is near!  Jericho Kids Club is happy to bring you two weeks of fresh and fun-filled activities for your child(ren) during March 21st to 25th and March 28th to April 1st (at our Bayview location only). 

Get ready for a Spring Break that is going to burst with amusements, wonderment, experiments, entertainment, excitement and amazement!  Your child(ren) will meet Janine the Genius, become talented circus performers, journey the mysteries of the deep sea, travel to the big screen for a grand cinema adventure and much, much more!

Make sure to download the Spring Break Registration Form from our website and submit your registration (payment must be included) to out main office at 2251 Collingwood Street, Vancouver, BC, V6R 3L1 as soon as you can as space is filling up!

Stepping into Spring

Due to changes in the school calendar Spring Break is now a glorious two weeks long!

JKC will be open for the full two weeks from 7:30am – 6:00pm with some exciting programs. Daily or weekly registration is required and additional fees will apply. Member fees reflect only the additional portion of the day and all fees include lunch, two snacks and all activity costs. Registration forms will be available soon.

Current members will have the opportunity to register beginning on February 15^th. Early registration is recommended as registration will be open to non-members beginning on February 28^th. Care will be primarily located at Bayview. If numbers are sufficient we will also operate at General Gordon.

Fees

Members:

Daily $30   Weekly $130                  

Non-members:

Daily $45   Weekly $195

Pink Eye…Dread the Spread

During this past week, children and staff at Bayview school and Bayview JKC have been treated for Pink Eye (Conjunctivitis). Pink Eye can spread in areas where people live, work, and play closely together. If you are around someone with Pink Eye, make sure to wash your hands thoroughly and often! This condition can be treated with antibiotics and eye drops. If your child has Pink Eye, please refrain from having him/her attend school or daycare (as advised by your physician) so that the spread of pink can be hindered!
